Oh, I've heard that whale waste was used for its fragrance! It's really gross, but I kind of want to smell it with the orange sent mixed in. It's cool how it's a versatile and unisex smell. But I don't think I can afford it. Also, Sudan doesn't have a beach (it's a landlocked state).

I do not understand this video and what it's relevance is. I know it is a review of a famous brand's perfume, but what is so special about it? She likes the fragerance and is not easily identifiable.

  4. JJ (p7): I love how whale vomit can be turned into an opportunity. Luck is when opportunity meets preparation. I generally like my signature scents, so I'm not too open to an overpriced new one.

  5. SBpd7- I want to know what this whale vomit looks like so what if I see it I can get rich quick!

  6. clp7: I would probably be more intrigued to wear this perfume if I wasn't aware of how it was made. The way she described the smell didn't sound that unappealing, but the fact that it was made from whale vomit really turns me off, and I don't think I would purchase it now knowing its contents.

  8. SK period 7: Guess this just proves that people will spend big bucks on anything, especially if it’s unique. Eau de Merveilles is vomit from a Sperm Whale that’s so rare it makes it special? It’s scent is compared to tobacco and fecal matter among other things! Does everyone understand what fecal matter is? Ugh! Scarce and uncommon seem to equal worth the money in our society. According to Sephora’s site, a 1.6 ounce bottle costs
$111! That’s just crazy. Is that really worth the price?

I did not really understand the video the first time I saw it. However, the second time, I felt that there was a connection between the "whale barf" and economics. Both have various different aspects that can lead to different products.

  11. AT-period 7. It's funny how people use a distinct perfume under names that look fancy to show that whoever uses it is indulgent of whale vomit.

I think it's weird how people sell high class perfume and don't know what they're really selling whale vomit-which is beyond gross.

Initially, when viewing this video I was confused and vaguely repulsed. I didn't really understand the relation between economics and the video.
However, when thinking a bit more about it, I guess I can kind of understand?
My interpretation was that you're initially repulsed and turned off by the thought of economics/sperm whale throw-up. However, if you give it a chance, good can come out of it. With the whale throw-up, you can get various authentic fragrances, while with economics you can use your garnered information to get further in life and to be aware and prepared for the "real world".
Despite that this might not be correct, this is just how I interpreted the relation between the video and economics.

  14. I think that it is weird that we have found such an odd occurrence in nature that cannot be replicated or harvested efficiently. Therefor, this substance reminds me of diamonds. They are incredibly hard to find, occur naturally and without any good way to predict their location I guess this whale vomit is just the diamond of the sea that we constantly overlook.

  15. erP7: I think that because we don't actually know what is in the perfume we wear, it doesn't affect us as long as we don't see whats inside. If I didn't know what it looked like i probably wouldn't mind wearing the perfume especially if it smelled good too. I also think that people won't mind spending the money on the perfume just because the value of the item ( even though they dont know what it is) is high.

This is absolutely appalling to me. How can someone wear a fragrance that is made of whale vomit! The main problem is how can this actually smell good! Its suppose to smell like ammonia and digested krill, not like a bed of roses. Don't really know how this is considered a wonderful smell, except if it is overloaded with hormones or something.

  17. atp7 I was very confused the first time I watched this video but after viewing it a second time, I was able to find one way in which it related to economics. The idea that people are buying things that they don't even know what it is made of, goes to show how malleable we are and how many of us are even willing to spend money on things just because of its name or price value. I know I am completely turned off after knowing what the perfume is made of and would not even consider buying it after seeing that.

I think it's crazy that such things can be used for perfume, and still smell good I guess. I don't see why whale vomit is that expensive, but they have to make money somehow, is that why it relates to economics? This just makes me hope the cologne I got for christmas isn't some sort of animal waste.

I do not understanad the video however if men and women can wear this perfume, i would not like it and go against the people who are selling it. Men are supposed to smell different than women. If it is expensie and named whale barf, i just can't imagine people buying this product
